Fall Portraits in Princeton NJ

On one of the warmest fall days we’ve had this year, I met up with Kira to shoot some fall portraits for her. She was open to location suggestions and just wanted a mixture of urban and nature in her shots.

I chose a very underrated location for these fall portraits. Technically considered Princeton, NJ, Forrestal Village seems to be a well-kept secret. (Except I’m over here spilling the tea!)

Forrestal Village is a jumble of shops, restaurants, offices and a hotel to boot. But here’s the catch: There’s never anyone around. I swear! Every time I go there, I maybe see one or two other people. A family might walk by or some business people. Other than that, it’s like having the whole place to yourself.

Kira was very trusting and agreed to meet me there. What was most important is that was got a variety of fall-themed images for her. Even though the weather was screaming “spring”, we easily snagged what we were looking for!

Kira mentioned that she loved my backlit photos. Basically, this means I shoot my subject with the sun behind them. The results range from magical natural sun flares to lit up golden hair. Of course, I could not disappoint and ended up making most of her images to be backlit.

Kira was a joy to work with. We had so much fun exploring the location and getting creative for her final fall portraits. This session proves that you don’t need a fancy, popular location to get good images. We can keep it simple!

We don’t know what is going to happen this year, but we can still make it something special for you.
